Emmett

A pencil drawing ! Something I don't do very often but will try to do more of because I really love it. This is "Emmett, like you've never seen him", a drawing on some very cool recycled paper that can take a lot of abuse. Thank God because I  am so out of practice with a pencil that I surely needed my eraser!

Emmett is a kid's kid, but he was pretty sedate when he first came to my studio. He was quite apprehensive at first, as you can see in the drawing, but after half an hour he was back to his ol' self!

I am in a goat phase right now and believe it or not there are a lot of goats out here in this part of Jersey.
I have always been pretty much a figurative painter but I am really enjoying painting these animals.

Maia's Glove-SOLD

This is "Maia's Glove" , the large piece I have been working on . I have to do a bit of tweeking in the shadows but I decided to post it anyway. I am getting antsy to move onto another piece!

Maia, another really lovely young model from my very small town on the Delaware. We seem to have a ton of gorgeous young women in this community of about 1200 people!

I'm Back and here is "Gilda"-SOLD

Feeling better and the large piece is almost finished (hurray!). I should post it next week.
This is a painting that I did to take a break from the large piece.

Loooooove doing dog paintings because well I just love dogs (probably a lot more then people).
Truly your best friends! They don't care if your getting fat, or your to skinny, to young ,to old, rich or poor.
They are always so happy to see you and adore you!
This is Gilda, and she is a beauty. She is not one of mine but I hope to have a greyhound or Italian greyhound one day.

Happy New Year-SOLD

I want to thank everyone for stopping by and leaving your kind messages. I apologize for not responding but I have been overwhelmed with commissions and trying to finish a large, 6 ft.x 4 ft. figurative piece.

Yes, I do have an uncle Rocco and had a grandpa Rocco on my mother's side and a bunch of crazy Russians on my dad's side!

The Tiny Dancer-SOLD

This was a small (10x10) oil on linen from 2004 or 2005. I was really into this blue at the time. I believe the base color was smalt. Not a color you would see everyday. It is an historic color that was used in past centuries. I get some really great historic paint colors from a paintmaker in Brooklyn, Robert Doak is his name. He makes some incredible paints!

"Girl Stuff"-SOLD from 2002

Still working on commissions. This piece , "Girl Stuff", is somewhere in the southern US now and was painted in 2002. I love still life and do not do enough of them. I have always enjoyed working from this angle.

I have been very fortunate to be able to support myself with only the "brush" now, for the past 11 years. It is truly wonderful to be able to do what you love. There are a lot of trade offs to be able to do this (dogs instead of kids), a 1200 square foot home instead of a 5000 square foot house (that is considered average size for new homes in NJ)! Hey, I'd live in a yurt if I had to, just as long as I can get through this life painting!

Laid Back-SOLD

I am busy with commission work and thought I would post some older pieces that I have never shown before on the web or in the galleries I have been affiliated with over the years.
This was a commissioned piece I did about 3 or 4 years ago titled "Laid Back". This was a large oil on linen about five or six feet long.

My husband Michael, who is an excellent model, loaded with white greasepaint, a little black eye make-up and a black mask. He is just so fabulous!

Ali w/ Northern Song Scroll-SOLD

Ali is another great model who I use often. She is wrapped up
in a big black (parachute material) coat and standing in front of a Chinese panel based on a scroll from the Northern Song Dynasty. She was actually standing in front of a white wall.
I would love to have the actual scroll but I would need just a bit more cash to own it!
