I guess it has! I have been busy, busy, busy. I don't know how people are able to blog as often as they do because I just don't seem to have the time!
Well, I have a few new paintings and two of the pieces will be featured in a group show "Women Painting Women" at the Robert Lange Studios/Gallery in Charleston, South Carolina. The two pieces are:
Ali's Back
12x12 o/l
Just Another Day
12x12 o/l w/ white gold leaf
This next painting is also of my wonderful model Alison.
I have used her over the years and she is just the best. Ali is a dancer, and a young actress in the theater. She knows how to give the attitude you are looking for!
Ali's Home Again
20x20 o/l
Hope this post turned out alright. I am a bit rusty!

Love them all, but that second one speaks to me. xo
Thanks Tina!
Hi Sandra, if that's being rusty bring on the rain, laugh out loud. The back view enhanced by the plug socket and cord is poignant, especially as the dress does not seem to fit very well, but agreeing with Tina that the second painting has such a strong voice. When I first saw it I thought Egon Schiele and then I saw him in your list of favourite painters. There is a knowledge and maturity about her. The way you handled the lower half of the body and the arms/hands is masterful.
What a treat it is to find your blog. You paint beautifully and your words are spoken so well.
It has been a very long time. I've checked back on and off and despaired of seeing more Sandra Flood. I'm so glad to see new work from you. I find your figures inspiring.
Love "Just Another Day"...great job on the hands! Saw this earlier on the Women Painting Women site and thought it was very striking.
Just Another Day is wonderful. Oil with white gold leaf! I've seen some very modern abstract art with white gold leaf and just loved the effect. This is even better!
What was your technique for affixing the gold leaf onto the painting?
'Just Another Day' is stunning. I am so glad you are back posting.
Thank you so much to everyone who has posted such wonderful comments. I am working on a painting right now that I need to finish for a client so I have not had time to spend on comments that I would have liked too.
.
Silvina, I used a gold leaf fixative that I painted on the linen and when it was tacky I applied the leaf.I have two kinds, one that sets up in about an hour or less and one that needs to set fro about twelve hours.
I will be using the leafing again but I fear if I use it too much it sort of becomes a gimmick. Does that make sense? I saw love just painting the figure and nothing else so it is also a great way to add a little more interest to the painting.
