This was a small (10x10) oil on linen from 2004 or 2005. I was really into this blue at the time. I believe the base color was smalt. Not a color you would see everyday. It is an historic color that was used in past centuries. I get some really great historic paint colors from a paintmaker in Brooklyn, Robert Doak is his name. He makes some incredible paints!

love your work, a refreshing mix of so many greats that has nicely coalesced into you. I can see some of the influences your lists of inspirations on your blog and can relate to them all. One that comes to mind you didn't list is Robert McGinnis. Come clean! ;-) I love him too. You have a get sense of composition and feeling for a good simple picture, love the abstract streak you have going. I'm trying hard to let a Franz Kline wave hit me harder, but I always go to real. I think my favorite panting of yours is the one of your husband, but it's all good.
