What a unique design, Sandra. Wonderful! I like very much that you left the pencil sketch evident in the painting. It feels more like art somehow. Shows the process.

Regarding the upcoming zebra; can't wait to see how you treated the black and white stripes. I painted a portrait with a black and white striped scarf and haven't finished it because the b/w pattern is giving me fits!

Let me tell you the stripes are a real test of patience! Notice the piece is not finished yet!

The pencil marks were actually done on the piece towards the end of the painting.I generally just do a quick line sketch with the brush and thin paint.
When I use to do a lot of abstract work I would draw into an over the oil paint and thought it might work well with my realistic work.

I also thought a square format would work better after I painted the piece so I darkened the edges around the painting to see where I would cut the piece but then I kind of liked it that way and thought I would live with it for a few days.

A collector came by my studio saw the piece and bought it within five minutes of walking in so I it was a good thing that I left the goat in the box!

Good thing you didn't cut the goat painting! That's called serendipity!

Sandra you have that very rare ability to make your animals look like individuals rather generically animal cute.

I also like to see bits and pieces of the process in art work. It's like getting an insight to the artist as they work. I love the bits of yellow in the goat's coat repeating the ground color. Beautiful painting!

Thanks everyone! I also would like to thank the person who left me a really nice comment yesterday but for some reason it just totally disappeared and I didn't delete it! Anyone else ever have this problem?
