This is veery lovely Sandra!
So THAT'S how black and white stripes are done right. Wow! This painting makes me crazy with curiosity. Who is this woman with a herd of zebra? She's so cool and sophisticated. Mysterious. Excellent work, Sandra.
Thank-you Werner!
Silvina Thanks!
She is a figment of my imagination.
I started with her in the middle of the canvas , a quick sketch and I was going to just do a painting of her and then I was inspired by a zebra painting, which I have always admired, by the 18th century artist George Stubbs.http://framesunlimited.com/products/297109
I just envisioned all these creatures behind her. I was going to take the painting further, really tightening up the stripes and legs of the zebra's, and the background but I decided that I liked the piece just the way it was.
There was something very regal about her and I immediately thought of the late Lady Diana.
Hence Diana's Herd!
I have a few more in the works too!
This painting is absolutely wonderful!!! I love everything about it. Is it for sale? I sure wish you taught painting workshops!
Lynn Nash
Thanks Lynn!
The painting sold two days ago. I wish I could give workshops too but I am a terrible teacher!
Very impressive! Sorry I don't have time to go into detail (although I'd love to), just wanted you to know, I really like this.
I went to the George Stubbs link you gave me. That painting was impressive. It reminded me of the dioramas in the Museum of Natural History in N.Y.
You have a terrific imagination!
great one. love the color and lighting on her face it really sets her apart.
Just an amazing painting. I love
the mood, the colour and the force
in it.
Barbara
elegant and whimsical both at the same time. nice work
Your subjects are so interesting. Makes we wish I could converse with them, animals included. Wonderful work.
what a dramatic piece... really cool
That's great Sandra, nobody does greens quite like you. And the figure reminds me of Manet or Sargent's La Femme aux Fourrures. one of my favorite studies of his.
Way to Go, Sandra !! Just enough unreal to be completely enticing! Most of us WISH we could paint like you!
