I'm Back and here is "Gilda"-SOLD

Feeling better and the large piece is almost finished (hurray!). I should post it next week.
This is a painting that I did to take a break from the large piece.

Loooooove doing dog paintings because well I just love dogs (probably a lot more then people).
Truly your best friends! They don't care if your getting fat, or your to skinny, to young ,to old, rich or poor.
They are always so happy to see you and adore you!
This is Gilda, and she is a beauty. She is not one of mine but I hope to have a greyhound or Italian greyhound one day.

Happy New Year-SOLD

I want to thank everyone for stopping by and leaving your kind messages. I apologize for not responding but I have been overwhelmed with commissions and trying to finish a large, 6 ft.x 4 ft. figurative piece.
I'd like to wish everyone the best for the New Year!

I am posting an older little painting here titled: Uncle Rocco takes a Walk

Yes, I do have an uncle Rocco and had a grandpa Rocco on my mother's side and a bunch of crazy Russians on my dad's side!
Isn't it great, America, such a melting pot!

The Tiny Dancer-SOLD

This was a small (10x10) oil on linen from 2004 or 2005. I was really into this blue at the time. I believe the base color was smalt. Not a color you would see everyday. It is an historic color that was used in past centuries. I get some really great historic paint colors from a paintmaker in Brooklyn, Robert Doak is his name. He makes some incredible paints!

"Girl Stuff"-SOLD from 2002

Still working on commissions. This piece , "Girl Stuff", is somewhere in the southern US now and was painted in 2002. I love still life and do not do enough of them. I have always enjoyed working from this angle.

I have been very fortunate to be able to support myself with only the "brush" now, for the past 11 years. It is truly wonderful to be able to do what you love. There are a lot of trade offs to be able to do this (dogs instead of kids), a 1200 square foot home instead of a 5000 square foot house (that is considered average size for new homes in NJ)! Hey, I'd live in a yurt if I had to, just as long as I can get through this life painting!

Laid Back-SOLD

I am busy with commission work and thought I would post some older pieces that I have never shown before on the web or in the galleries I have been affiliated with over the years.
This was a commissioned piece I did about 3 or 4 years ago titled "Laid Back". This was a large oil on linen about five or six feet long.

More Work...Finally

Michael Unmasked w/ Greasepaint
24x18 oil on linen
My husband Michael, who is an excellent model, loaded with white greasepaint, a little black eye make-up and a black mask. He is just so fabulous!

Ali w/ Northern Song Scroll-SOLD
12x18 oil on board
Ali is another great model who I use often. She is wrapped up
in a big black (parachute material) coat and standing in front of a Chinese panel based on a scroll from the Northern Song Dynasty. She was actually standing in front of a white wall.
I would love to have the actual scroll but I would need just a bit more cash to own it!

One Hour from Love-SOLD

There is a story behind her and I will try to make it brief. A number of years ago I knew a very funny man (an artist)"J". He popped into my studio to tell my friend and I that he was "one hour from love, one hour from love" over and over. He was having a drink with this remarkable women ( that he met through an ad in the paper) in an hour. I asked if they have seen photo's of each other and they had not. "J" looks like Rasputin, beard and all, not the best looking but interesting if your into that sort of thing and he dressed like an Edwardian musketeer. He also had a very deliberate, theatrical way of speaking. He sounded english but not quite and he was not. A character through and through.
Anyway the hour rolled around and I offered to give him a ride across the river's bridge to meet this women by the gate to this well known B&B. I dropped him off a block or two from the location. As I drove by the place there she stood in this green "60's" coat with a fur collar , red hair , smoking a cigarette and very exotic. No way was this going to work. I went around a few blocks and who do I see walking down Main Street but "J" by himself. I pulled over , he came to my car and said "well... she may not know what she wants , but.... she definately knows what she DOESN'T want".. he laughs and continued, " I said hello...she was ravishing ....and she said "oh no this won't work" turned around and walked away. He laughed again (he was use to this sort of thing) and took my friend and I out for a drink and that night met a local women at the bar and married her two years later. He was actually three hours from love.
I was reminded of this when I saw a very similar coat in a thrift store a few weeks back and had to paint it!
